What is Station 187?
Station 187 is a newly-formed model railroad club (since April 2011) and we have a pending application as a non profit organisation 501(c)(3) under the laws of the State of South Carolina.
Who we are and what we do?
We are a group of train enthusiasts with a passion for model trains and we are looking for members that share our passion in 1:87 (HO) model building, as all other scales of modeling. We also do other social activities like rail fanning, movie nights, train shows and railroad museum visits, etc. You don't need to be a train enthusiast, because at Station 187 it is not all about trains. All ages and genders are welcome to join us.
Club Layout
We already have build a 17-section modular U.S. HO (scale 1:87) layout which is 35' by 16'.
Station 187 is using state of the art technology in electronics and computer automation and we continue to highly detail the layout. We are also planing to build a European layout as well, so this will also be an educational experience.
Our Goal
Our goal is to have a static display open for the public on a regular basis to view. Push button activated animations around the layout give visitors the ability to interact with the layout. A track for Visitors to control a camera train on the layout, that give you the feeling to control a real train, is also planned. There are ton's of ideas to work on, to many to be listed here.

STATION 187 NEEDS YOUR HELP
Station 187 is looking for a permanent location for our club to expand the existing layout. Right now we are looking for an affordable space at around 2.500sf to 5.000sf in the Greenville Area. The space should be dry, air conditioned, easy to find and accessible for visitors, also for disabled persons. It also can be located in a basement because we do not need windows. The layout will have automatic simulated day and night cycles as well as wheather simulations. If you can help please contact us
